This slogan was carefully chosen to represent the 2015 “rebirth” of the Nebraska Silver Classic Horse Show and Futurity. This year, over $20,000.00 is being offered in cash and prizes- all to be paid out in a three day horse show. In addition to the cash, there will also be saddles, silver cup trophies, and random prize drawings awarded as well.
The futurity will also host NSBA classes with NSBA Bronze trophies being awarded to class winners. New in 2015 is the “Calcutta” Charity Event to raise money for children suffering from Infantile Spasms http://infantilespasmsproject.org.
At one time, the Nebraska Silver Classic was the 4th largest show in the nation. It was started in 1984 at the Ak- Sar-Ben (Nebraska spelled backwards) facility. Many great horses whose influence is still prevalent in our industry today had their win pictures taken in front of the iconic Nebraska Silver Classic backdrop. When the City of Omaha replaced the facility with a business park and University dormitories, the show was moved from Omaha to the Capital city of Lincoln.
In late 2014, the Silver Classic Futurity committee was formed and immediately went to work in trying to restore the Silver Classic to the prestigious show it once was. The committee consists of a wide variety of resident Nebraska horse enthusiasts. They are professional horse trainers, world champions, novice amateurs, select amateurs, and business owners.
The collective input from this unique group is what will make this show so special. Much time and consideration has been given in order to make sure that there are classes for every level of horse and rider.
The 2015 Nebraska Silver Classic will consist of two large horse shows with six judges. There will be several familiar classes offered as well as some new, innovative classes all with added money. Last but not least, we are excited to announce the first annual “Extreme Exhibitor Party” as well as a Tailgate Party to cheer on the Nebraska Cornhusker Football Team as they play the Miami Hurricanes. The details of these parties are being kept under wraps until show time, but they are parties that will surely be talked about by exhibitors for years to come!
Under new management, the Lancaster Event Center is undergoing many new and exciting changes. The new footing has already been installed and has had nothing but rave reviews. New lighting has been wired in the arenas, stall mat rentals are now available and improved food/beverage choices have been introduced in the cafeteria. No expense has been spared and no details have been overlooked!
